We publish a wide variety of tutorials and tips on Vectortuts+, but it’s not often we get to see the other side of our tutorials. In our latest workshop we shine a spotlight on the fantastic work created by the students of Vectortuts+ and give you the opportunity to take part in Round Three. Introduction
From time to time, we have readers show us what they’ve been able to create by using our tutorials or what’s been inspired by one of our tutorials. Often seeing what others have made inspires others to give it a go. This is what our new Tuts+ Workshop is all about… sharing with our readers what you’ve created!

Anne Alexander
My name is Anne Alexander, and I live in Indiana (US). Although I’m not a professional designer, I enjoy creating graphics with Illustrator. Tutorials have helped me learn features and techniques that I might not have discovered on my own.
Anne used “Create Colorful, Layered Paper Type in Illustrator” to create her own spin on this great tutorial by Diana Berg.
Jay Sayatovic
I had been playing with the concept of a Monkey Medusa and had developed the head in a pseudo-realistic style using gradient meshes. However, when it came to the snakes, I hit a block in terms of, what I wanted the final outcome to be, and how much time I was willing to invest in the project. So I shelved the concept and the files for year or so.
After seeing the ‘Psychedelic Funky Line Art Portrait’ tutorial on your site, I was inspired to give the Monkey Medusa idea another go, this time in a completely different style. About the same time I was helping some friends by creating a poster for a festival they were involved in, thus taking my concept from a ‘just for fun drawing’ to something with a little focus and ‘real world’ use. Timing worked out well. I feel it came together nicely and I am happy with the final result.

Andrei Urse
My name is Andrei Urse and I’m from Romania. I`m 21 years old and I’m currently working as a Graphic Designer at a law firm. I love creating logos and complex vector art using Illustrator. I also use Photoshop and InDesign on a daily basis.
In my spare time I enjoy watching tutorials and improving my portfolio, as well as joining the competitions organized by www.logomyway.com, in which most of the times I was ranked 2nd or 3rd and once I even managed to win 1st prize. Thanks, Vectortuts+ for the free tutorials, they are really valuable for designers.

My name is Ewa and I’m a twenty years old girl from Poland.
From the childhood I’m trying everything which is connected with art and creativity. During attempts creating layouts for websites I came across a vector graphic and probably I stuck in this for longer. I am self-taught, but in October I’m starting school relating to advertising. So far, I have learned by watching others work and following tutorials. It’s very helpful! In this way I learn new techniques and then I could try to connect them and use in my independent projects.

Duc Su
Hello. My name is Duc Su. I am not a graphic designer by trade more of just a hobby passing the time. The selection of software I chose was Adobe Illustrator for learning vector artwork. I knew nothing of this software other then how to open it. My first attempt on using Illustrator was a total disaster, naturally. What better way to learn the in’s and out’s of AI than to search Vectortuts+ tutorial section. After following a couple of simple examples, I felt more comfortable using the software and at the same time learned some few tips and tricks from the experts.
Duc used two tutorials to create this great illustration. “Turning A Photo into Lichtenstein Style Pop Art with Illustrator” written by Ian Yates and “How to Create a Dynamic 3D Puzzle Effect in Adobe Illustrator by Andrei Marius.
Roxanne Judd
My name is Roxanne Judd, and I am a freelance digital artist and illustrator from Canada. I am currently 26 years old and I enjoy creating vectors and digital art in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I am always eager to learn new tips and techniques when it comes to creating artwork on the computer, though first and foremost I love to draw with just a pencil on paper. Even though I attended art school for traditional animation, I have come to thoroughly enjoy graphic design.

Renate Meyer
Hi! My name is Renate ‘Hugo’ Meyer. I am 32 year young female from a city called Tromsoe, way up north in Norway.
I have always loved to draw and do creative things. And 2 years ago I decided to do something more out of it instead of just having it as a hobby. So I went down south to Trondheim, where I am currently living, to study Illustration. Here I discovered Illustrator for the first time in my life and I fell in love instantly. I just love to experiment and try out new things with it. I use tutorials like mad and I watch videos and get so inspired by all the different styles people have and I hope one day I too can make a living out of it and be an inspiration to others!

I am a Cartographer and Graphic Designer living and working in Ottawa, Canada. This is my interpretation of a magnifying glass using this tutorial. I create children’s birthday invitations and party accessories for fun and often use Vectortuts+ for inspiration.
Libby used the tutorial “How to Create a Magnified Text Illustration” to create the illustrative element to this card, written by Simona Pfreundner.
How to Get Involved!
Would you like to show off what you’ve been able to create by following our tutorials? Are you proud of what you have achieved? Join the Vectortuts+ Facebook page and post what you’ve created by using a Vectortuts+ tutorial.
Guidelines:
- Artwork must have a visible similarity to one of the tutorials on the website, so readers can see what they could possibly achieve! It doesn’t have to be perfect, nor does it have to look exactly like the end tutorial result, just similar.
- We have readers checking out the Vectortuts+ Facebook page, so please link to the tutorial you used so others can check it out also.
- You may submit more than one design, however we may spread the pieces over different articles to give other people a chance to shine as well.
- When you publish your work on Facebook, please include one or two paragraphs about yourself and/or your work and a link to your website/online portfolio. We love knowing more about our readers, especially when we see how much creativity and talent they have!
- Have fun! All submissions are welcome – regardless of whether you’ve been vectoring one month or ten years!
