What You'll Be Creating

In this tutorial I will show you how to create a nice acid text effect, using layer styles.

This effect is a part of my text style pack on GraphicRiver.

Introduction

The following assets will be used during this tutorial:

Before you start creating own text mock-up, download and install the font. It will help you to get the same result.

1. How to Create the Pattern

Step 1

Open Photoshop (I use Photoshop CS6), go to File > New, and create a new 6 x 6 px document (the Background Contents should be Transparent).

Step 2

Select the ACID layer, press Control-A, pick the Move Tool, and press Align vertical center and Align horizontal center. It will move the text layer to the center of our document.

Step 3

Make sure that the ACID layer is selected. Double-click with your mouse on the layer name and change it to Text Layer. Press Enter to apply the change.

Renaming The Label

Step 4

Go to Layer > Smart Objects > Convert to Smart Object (or right-click on the Text Layer and choose Convert to Smart Object).

Step 5

Pick this Smart Object and duplicate it four times. As a result, there will be five copies of the Smart Object. Rename each layer from the top to the bottom using the template: Text_[number]. Select all smart objects and group them. Change the name of the group to Text.
