Photoshop in 60 Seconds: Trendy Hipster Effect
Hipsters love clean, vibrant colors! And you can create colorful effects for your photos easily with a Photoshop Action. In this quick video below, I'll show you how to make a vibrant, hipster-inspired photo filter and turn it into a custom action.
How to Create a Hipster Filter Action in Photoshop
Open your photo into Photoshop. Here I'll be using this Male Stock.
Now set up your action. Go to Window > Actions to access the Actions palette. Click on the New Action Set icon to create a folder for your action, and then select New Action and name it "Hipster." Once you're ready to move on, hit the Record button to begin recording your next steps.
Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Vibrance. Set the Vibrance to 83 and the Saturation to 0. Then add a New Adjustment Layer for Brightness and Contrast. Set the Brightness to 59 and the Contrast to 15.
Add a final New Adjustment Layer for Gradient Map. Pick a gradient that transitions from blue #1e13b4 to white. Set the Layer Blend Mode to Pin Light and lower the Opacity to 50%.
To finish, create a New Layer and use a large, Soft Round Brush at 0% Hardness to paint yellow on one side and purple on the other. Set the Layer Blend Mode to Color and bring down the Opacity to 25%.
When you're finished, hit Stop on the Actions palette and save your new action for future projects.
