For this article in the international artist series, we turn to Austria, featuring six artists who create fantastic work, from cool 3D illustrations to graphic designs and more! I asked each artist how their country and culture inspired their work, and they delivered fantastic answers. Enjoy!

The Missing Ampersand
What I love about living here in Austria is the variety. Especially in Vienna, the capital city, there are a lot of varieties in food, design, culture, art, and architecture. I can tell that it never gets boring living here in Vienna.

Vienna has definitely shaped my work. I attended design and art school when I was 15 years old. Since then, my interest for working in this field has never disappeared. I feel lucky that I've found my passion at this young age. Besides the education, I also get very inspired from the art scene here in Vienna. There is so much to see, from industrial design to contemporary art and so much more.

Body Snatchers
I live in a small city in the Alps so I'm constantly surrounded by nature and I absolutely love that! I love spending time outdoors every day, admiring the beautiful mountains around me and just enjoying my time walking around the town.

Uppers & Downers
The local nature has slowly made its way into my artwork. I get constantly inspired by watching people from so many different cultures.

The Jungle
The illustration community is rather small, but very supportive. We're from all over the world but find common ground in our daily struggles as artists. We're a very supportive group of people!

Nikolaus Schatz
Nikolaus is an artist based in Vienna, Austria. His work features realistic 3D illustrations with superb details. Check out a small selection of his work below, or see more in his portfolio.
Center of the Earth
The thing that I love most about Austria is the Austrian mentality, especially the Vienna mentality. Everything is a little more relaxed. We also have very wonderful mountains, lakes, and woods you just have to see!

Shiny Core
Because we do everything relaxed, some may say we are lazy and I am definitely lazy. That has influenced my workflow. As you see in my tutorials, I always try to find a way using the fewest steps!

Under the Dome
Unfortunately the 3D community in Austria is very small, but Austria is very small too, so maybe that is the reason. I do everything alone and it works, but of course it would be nice to meet with more colleagues too.

Koivo
Koivo is a freelance illustrator based in Vienna, Austria. Their work features bold flat illustrations for editorials, covers, and more. Check out a small selection of their work below, or see more in their portfolio.
World View
I like clean streets in Austria, the nice public transportation, and the beautiful architecture. I also like the free public libraries where I often find a rare art book.

QueerFest
I'm very interested in architecture and art history, so living in Vienna is a really huge inspiration for me. Walking along the streets is like visiting a museum, and the various galleries and museums offer a wide range of art exhibitions.

Postcards from Amsterdam
I'm not very involved in the art community, being that I'm too busy with work and study at Vienna university. But I would be happy to know more of my colleagues in future.

Svyatoslav Konahovski
Svyatoslav is a designer based in Salzburg, Austria. His work features mind-blowing illustrations of concept cars and vehicles. Check out a small selection of his work below, or see more in his portfolio.
Centurion Concept
Austria is a fascinating place. I was so impressed after my arrival here. People are friendly, polite and relaxed, and everyone is just enjoying their life. One thing that I like to observe are the old vintage cars. You can see a lot of rare and uncommon vehicles during the weekends in the spring and summer.

Hodgepodge
First, the people inspire me. I work at a studio with a really strong team where everyone has a lot of talent and skill. That motivates me a lot. Then, it's the nature. My office is located at the foot of the Untersberg mountain so I like breathing the fresh air and catching new ideas.

I think my influences come mostly from the different kinds of jobs I do here and the people I work with.

Marmelade Ballonhotel
There are more and more motivated young creatives, as well as creators of all kinds here. And, of course, there are some really good museums to visit here too.

Many thanks to the artists who took time to answer my questions and share a bit about themselves and how their country and/or culture has affected their work. You can check out more of their work in the links below:
