Welcome back to our International Artist Series.

Today we're catching up with five incredible artists from Thailand, home of amazing food, royal palaces, and the people of Southeast Asia. I asked each artist how their country and culture inspired their work, and they delivered great responses.

Pai Lactobacillus

Pai is an extraordinary visual artist from Bangkok, Thailand. Her work is trippy and colorful, with insane 3D illustrations you'll get lost in. Check it out!

Pim Cosmetix

There are so many good things about Thailand. We have world-famous natural attractions, a new club or bar every month, and amazing food. Thai society is a society of good people; we smile and laugh every day because there is always a funny show happening.

The Lessons 02

My work is influenced by club culture, electronic music, and party atmospheres. Sometimes I mix Thai art with the vibe of dance music, which is a work that requires imagination. I usually go out to listen to music and dance at night clubs and music festivals with friends. There I always find new inspiration. Each and every night club is our art gallery.

There is a lot of opportunity to develop the art in Thailand. It's the next generation of inspiration. Whether it's street art, lighting design, visual art, or new media, we exchange views with foreign friends. But the art society in Thailand is still small and some artists have to earn money from commercial work then come back to creation for self-healing. But, of course, the work we do personally is always fun.

Currently, the main way to enjoy and appreciate art is through different social networks, which are great places to find various inspiration. You also learn about many interesting and exciting cultures from every corner of the world. So the culture from my area has only a little influence on me.

Red Bull Mural

I recently became a nomad and Thailand was the first country I went to. I lived in Chiang Mai and fell in love because there was inspiration in every corner. It had that magical feeling to it, kinda like the feeling when you hold your first crayons as a little kid; I got really excited to create again.

Olympics Postage Stamps

Aside from the art scene, the city itself is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery, making it a great subject, not just for painting and design, but for photography as well. There was a great connection between narrative and space that inspired me on a day to day basis. It has a strong sense of place and I love being in this kind of environment, surrounded by these things.

Logos Vol. 1: Papa Churros

The art scene is very vibrant and dynamic there and the locals are some of the kindest people I’ve met. They have very good places you can visit, like Baan Kang Wat and Nimman Street. There are also a number of gallery shows and art workshops you can join as well. There are a lot of new things to see everyday and I just think it’s wonderful.

Thailand Illustration

As you can see in my illustrations, most of them were inspired by the buildings, temples and attractions I've seen and have good memory of. I love their uniqueness, especially Bangkok, because you can't see anything like this in another country.

The art community here in Bangkok is small but we're getting bigger compared to 10 years ago. We also have Bangkok design week, which makes people pay a lot more attention, so that is a good sign of a much larger art community coming in the future.

Blue Preta

I've lived in Bangkok since I started my first year at Silpakorn University. Bangkok is a mixture between new things and the old culture that I really love. So in my work, I combine new ideas with a sense of the old culture along with a mix of Western and Eastern styles.

The Traveler: Paradise

The art community in Thailand showcases so many different styles and techniques. It's not just a closed community anymore and anyone with passion can be an artist. I love how open it is and that we all share our thoughts together.
